Hello all,
I'm new here, nice to meet you. I've been studying herbalism and holistic health for several years, and am now delving into the realm of flower essences. I am wondering if any of you make your own essences, and if so, do you have any tips or ideas? I feel inclined to make my own out of herbs and flowers from my garden...using each one for the emotional spirit I associate with them. I have some issues with anxiety, depression and sexuality, and some of the flowers/herbs I am drawn to are Lemon Verbena, Rose, Blackberry, and Sage. Do those associations make any sense, or should I be consulting a comprehensive source?
Thanks!

i feel like flower essences are the ultimate in subtle, intuitive, vibrational medicine, so i would trust your intuition and roll with it. working with them in your own garden and making the essences will most likely confirm whether or not your suspicions were accurate. AND i personally also like to check textbook sources too, because i think the collective info gathered is really helpful. also, you may want to have a look at borage and mustard for depression.
i have made my own (just this week we made calendula, cal poppy, yarrow and mustard), and i highly recommend it. it is so fun and super easy and you get to make sure you're putting the specific love and prayers and blessings in there, whereas with storebought, while they work, you just can't guarantee the love at that stage of production. we also added some crystals actually, which we carefully chose to match the flowers. yay. good strong medicine.

Re: Hello and a question
Wed, August 22, 2007 - 3:28 PMHi,
I'm a newbie too. I have nearly finished my Australian Bush Flower Essence Practitioners course and my last assignment is to make up my own essence. I never thought I would be so apprehensive, but have left this assignment to last (was putting it off actually). I know when I actually do it, it will be ok.
I recommend Waratah(Australian Bush Flower Essence) for depression and Fringed Violet, wisteria and flannel flower for sexual issues.
I have been having a lot of fun and breakthroughs with the essences, as most of the course has been hands on and experiential.
Emily, I feel your passion and excitement about making flower essences, good for you.
Blessings,
Andy
